The project will analyze qualitative data to answer the following research questions: What are the students' perceptions of compiling mnemonics with a partner for a masters-level business statistics course? What do students perceive as the difference in mnemonic creation and compilation with using generative AI, such as ChatGPT, versus not using generative AI?, and What preferences do students have for creating mnemonics process versus declarative knowledge? I will be working alongside Professor Megan Mocko, who teaches a masters-level business statistics course, to code and interpret the qualitative data. We hypothesize that students can increase the retention of material by focusing on the retrieval process with the use of mnemonics.
